Green Moray Eel
The water is azure blue and 86 degrees. I have never had that high of a water temp show on my Galileo computer. October is the rainy month and we have had some morning and afternoon showers, but most of the rain occurred before I arrived.
It was a week ago and the flight out of DFW was packed 100%. I fly stand by and got a seat so was able to join David and Jackie (Pelican clients) aboard. Actually David brought down a boat part for us and had to pay the duty ($40 …
HELLO WORLD
MISSION REPORT–FAR NORTH COMMAND–10/13/2021
The latest news coming from the Mayan Peninsula is that the state of Quintana Roo (AKA QROO) is or will be moving to green. This color signifies the normal health of the state (COVID colors). It does not mean that the pandemic has stopped but most of the COVID restrictions are being reduced. I believe that mask wearing is still in force for the public areas–stores and dining places so stay safe and wear your mask when you venture out. We also ask that you carry both your mask and regulator back to your residence after …
WHAT A DAY
Lola’s wet nose touched my hand and she emitted a slight dog moan. With the sleep seeds in my eyes I rolled out of the rack and shuffled across the carpet (toe stubbing has been a problem) to the door. Holding tightly to the hand railing I eased down the stairs. With each step I thanked my smarts for getting the left knee replaced. THIS MORNING I was 70 years old. That thought went through my mind as I took each step smiling at the no aches or pains anywhere.
Lo headed straight to the back door, turned and …
It was an exciting morning today. I was at the marina at 0600 helping–well –I was there anyway. Our Captains Chan Fran and Tiburon have organized the loading of tanks very efficiently. As work dwindled due to the Covid months, A man named Cherna came up with the idea to help load the boats with tanks and equipment. Our DM’s pay him a fee and he brings the tanks and equipment down from the staging area to the boats. Then hands them off to the boat captains. Our boat captains and DM’s are in our 3P chat group so everyone …
We have begun to emerge from this Covid controlled year. The evidence is in the stores on the waterfront street now opening and the street hawkers out bothering strolling tourists. A couple of weeks ago, the streets and restaurants were very busy as Semana Santa–EASTER–week was upon us. During the week prior to Easter, many Mexican Nationals have their annual holiday. The ferries were over crowded as families and individuals arrived from the mainland. The Marina was busy and the boat traffic on the waters was exciting. Everything almost felt normal again. If it had not been for the temperatures …

As you may have already heard, Domestic airlines in the USA will require a Covid test done within three days of boarding a flight back to the USA. This affects travelers to Cozumel or Cancun.

Nighttime in the ocean is a whole new ballgame. Some creatures sleep during the day so they can work the nightshift. Others are active day and night, but may display different behaviors at night.
It feels good to be back in the Cozumel groove. A big part of that groove is diving with Tres Pelicanos three or four days a week. This marine life slide show includes a mix of large and small, common and rare, beautiful and humorous.
