Because at Tres Pelicanos we want you to “Dive your Dive”
“Extended bottom time is our goal for each diver. We do not limit dives to depth and time alone. We encourage each diver to dive his own profile using their computers to stay within the safe limits of the sport.“
Steve Belmont, Tres Pelicanos Owner
It always seemed unfair to terminate a dive when one air challenged diver had to surface, or have a dive limited to 45 minutes. We felt that there could be a much better way to enjoy diving and get the most bang for your buck by diving a 70 minute bottom time safely and staying within the no decompression limits of the sport.
Here in Cozumel we can do exactly that as our style of diving offers these parameters. We understand that not everyone breathes the same, so when a diver reaches 700 psi we ask them to buddy up and go to their safety stop. We suggest everyone carry a surface marker and know how to use it. (It is our pleasure to train divers on how to use a surface buoy, so do not hesitate to ask us.) If not, your divemaster will deploy his buoy and take you to a shallower depth where you can do your safety stop, then other divers in the group can continue their dive.
Once surfaced, our boats are there to pick you up. It is rare that our boat is not right there, but if it is not close by, just ask one of the other boats to radio the SKINNY SHARK or LOAN SHARK and that will bring our boat quickly. For over 8 years now we have instituted this method of diving and it has been very successful.
