UPDATED 1/15/21: As you may have already heard, Domestic airlines in the USA will require a Covid test done within three days of boarding a flight back to the USA. This affects travelers to Cozumel or Cancun. Visit our blog for additional updates, and continue reading below to learn about the steps Tres Pelicanos is taking to provide a safe diving experience for you.

At Tres Pelicanos, we believe that taking care of you, our family comes first. Our entire staff has taken the required COVID-19 courses outlined by the government. We have the documentation showing their certificates on hand at the shop. Here are the government required procedures that you will need to do. There are photos included to help explain.

Safety in the Shop

You must have a mask on before entering the dive shop. Please bring your own. We will have a few if needed.
Before you enter the shop we will scan your forehead for a temperature. If you do have a temperature you will not be allowed to enter or dive. We will suggest that you check with the hospital.

As you enter the shop, there will be a hand sanitizer station just to your right inside the doorway. You will use it on your hands. Then you will walk on a black mat that is saturated with a sanitizing solution. From that mat you will step on a colored towel and dry your feet.

By now you will have noticed that we have blocked off the office to allow one entry and one exit. Basically just follow the path as you would when you walk towards the desk. Then exit on the other side of the plywood wall.
COVID-19 Safety on the Boat

On the boat you will see the Dive Master and Captain wearing masks. Even though there will be enough space to social distance we suggest that you also wear yours.
Both Divemasters and Captains will use hand sanitizer before handling gear. At the end of your dive day the shop will sanitize your gear with a 4% bleach solution, however, we recommend you take your own dive mask and regulator home with you. We also suggest that you set your own regulator up and our Dive Masters will check it.
As you all know, Cozumel has suffered greatly from the lack of tourism because of COVID-19. These safety precautions are government regulated. However there may be some who feel that it may infringe on their right by having to wear a mask. I ask all of you to remember that you are guests in a foreign country and are supposed to abide by the rules. Masks are to be worn at all times when out and about. I realize that this will be uncomfortable with the warm temperatures of our tropical environment. It is our request that you must wear your mask when in the shop, and in our vehicles during transport back and forth. Even though you may be able to social distance while on the boat we suggest that you continue to wear a mask.
I felt safe while flying to Cozumel from Alaska. I wore the proper PP&E and applauded the airlines for their cleanliness and mask policy. Arriving in Cozumel, temperatures of the arriving passengers were scanned by infrared camera. All of the airport personnel wore their masks. All of the timeshare people wore face shields. Please respect the rules of Cozumel to help keep everyone safe.
*There is no longer a water cooler on board the boats or in the dive shop, however, we will have bottled water aboard the boats. We do ask that you bring your own water container as the entire Island is trying to lessen the use of any plastic articles, including plastic bottles.
